Salvatore DeMarco grew up in Silver Lake and Mariners Harbor. He went to High School at
McKee High School and majored in Sheet Metal.
Before he entered the Army he worked both as a Rivet Heater and a Bucket-Up In a shipyard in Bethlehem Steel Corp in Staten Island, New York from 1941-1943.
In the US. Army, Salvatore was a Tank Crewman Light (1763). He was a tank gunner with the 7th Armored Division during combat. Later, he was a tank driver with the 2nd Armored Division. Salvatore served in France, Belgium, Holland, England, Germany, Battles and campaigns. Ardennes, Central Europe, Rhineland. He was awarded the American Service Medal, European African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal.
After discharge Salvatore worked for William S. Archer as a Stock Clerk.
He was married to the former Mildred Carroll. He had two sons, Mark DeMarco and Ronald DeMarco. He lived on Oakwood Avenue in Silver Lake section of Staten Island.
Salvatore loved going fishing. He was known for being a caring family man. He died on October 31, 1974.
