Cannabis Retail Business to Open: 1350 Forest Avenue SINY 10302
At our recent meeting, we discuss this new business to open in our community. We explain to the members on how the State established a list of pre-requisite in order to open such a business.
This particualr location, falls short on numerous issues. The NYS-OCM decided to ignore their own list of requirements and APPROVE the license to operate in our community. The owners, a former dealer and Felon was requested to come to Community Board #1 meetings and refused to communicate back. This is the same individual which made a bold statement in recent SILIVE article "we would to be a positive impact in the Community".
The community should know the State of New york is dismissing the community concerns and moving forward in APPROVING these licenses to operate in every area of Staten island.
Since, news has surfaced regarding NYS-OCM; the Office is in a disarray. With sudden resignations and accusations of special treatment, suggestion of Quid pro quo, Retaliation tactics and other possible corruption tactics coming from top level individuals at NYS-OCM (Damian Fagon).
The Community should understand this, this is a Newly Established State of New York Agency and it already had significant integrity issues.
We voted overwhelmingly for our Staten island Elected Officials to carefully look into the practices of NYS-OCM and conduct an oversight committee.
