Gaetano J. Ursomanno

Gaetano (Tom) Ursomanno was a lifelong Port Richmond resident. He attended McKee High School.

A World War II veteran, he served as a gunner’s mate in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.

He married the former Mary Ann Brocato in 1946. He is the father of Lois Krause (husband Ron), Thomas (wife Noreen), Steve and Linda Sue Ursomanno. Grandfather of Jennifer Fauci, Laura Krause, Vincent and Vincenzo Ursomanno; Great grandfather of Nicholas & Logan Fauci, Stephen & Ryan Pica, and Emily Ursomanno.

He worked as a roofer for the former Federal Roofing and Siding Co. in Tompkinsville. He then worked during the 1950s as a can supplier for Comet Cleanser at the Procter & Gamble Company’s former Port Ivory Plant located on Staten Island.

In 1952, Mr. Ursomanno started his own business, Tom’s Boat Shop, on Bennett Street in Port Richmond, and was still its owner at the time of his death. Today his sons keep the business going.

Tom was a sponsor for the 8 Balls, a former SI softball team during the 50s. Tom enjoyed taking monthly trips to Atlantic City with his wife Mary Ann.

According to his family, he could “fix anything, like a magic wand.”

Tom passed away at the age of 79 on November 4, 2004.
