Frank D’Agostino

U.S. Marine Corps
1941-1945
Battles of the Pacific: Saipan, Tinian, Marianna Islands and Iwo Jima

Frank served during WWII in the following Pacific battles: Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian, and Marianna Islands.

Known by the nickname, “Chappy” he grew up in Mariners Harbor, married and moved to Maple Avenue in Port Richmond.

Chappy rarely spoke about his time overseas but he did mention that while in a foxhole on Iwo Jima he noticed someone painting during the battle. He approached him and found out that he was from Staten Island! And Chappy always spoke about the can of spam that he buried on the beach on Iwo Jima
